A free audio visualizer overlay for OBS

Most "free" stream visualizers either watermark the output, make you sign up, or render in someone's cloud and email you a file. This one runs in your browser tab, has a dedicated pop-out window built for window capture, and does none of those things.

Setting it up in OBS

  1. Open the visualizer and pick your audio source — your microphone, an audio file, or a browser tab.
  2. Set the output frame in the Advanced drawer. Choose an aspect (16:9, 9:16, 1:1 or 4:5) and a resolution (720p, 1080p or 1440p). The canvas is then sized to those exact pixels rather than to your window, so what OBS captures is the shape you actually want.
  3. Pop it out. The pop-out opens the visuals in their own bare window with no page chrome around them.
  4. In OBS, add a Window Capture source and select that pop-out window. Crop if you need to, and you're done.
Capturing the pop-out rather than the whole browser is what keeps the toolbar, tabs and bookmarks out of your scene. If you'd rather not pop out, Window Capture on the browser plus a crop filter works too — it's just more fiddling every time you restart.

Getting audio into it

Auto-gain is available so a quiet source still drives the visuals properly instead of producing a flat line. It normalises toward a consistent level with a fast attack and slow decay, so it doesn't pump on transients.

What it actually does

Recording without OBS

If all you want is a clip, you don't need OBS at all. The tool records the canvas directly, with the source audio muxed in, and hands you a video file. There is also a deterministic MP4 export for a clean render.

Being straight with you about the one catch: recording is free to use, but saving the resulting file — and the MP4 export — requires unlocking the tool with an email address. Everything else on this page, including the pop-out and OBS capture, works with no email and no account. If you're going the OBS route, the gate never comes up.
