DreadScape — Horror Sounds & Ambience
Every layer of a scare, in one curated pack. Creature vocals, impact hits, drones & ambience, dark stingers and interface sounds — enough to score a whole horror scene without opening a second library.
62 WAV files · 5 categories · ~11.4 minutes · 44.1 kHz / 16-bit · royalty-free · commercial use permitted
What's in it
| Category | What it covers | Sounds |
|---|---|---|
| Creature Vocals | Chitters and growls — the thing in the room with you | 20 |
| Drones & Ambience | Dark beds, sustained drones and risers | 12 |
| Dark Stingers | The hit that lands on the cut | 12 |
| Impact Hits | Bone cracks, heavy impacts, metallic impacts | 9 |
| UI | Menu and interface sounds that match the tone | 9 |
| Total | 62 |
The pack downloads as five category folders, not a flat dump of 62 files — so dragging "the growl one" into your session doesn't start with a search.
Why it's built this way
Most horror libraries sell you a number. There are packs with thousands of creature sounds in them, and if raw count is what you need, buy one of those — this isn't trying to beat them on volume.
What DreadScape is built for is a whole scene from one library. A scare isn't a creature sound. It's the drone that was there for forty seconds before you noticed it, the sound of the thing moving, the impact, the stinger on the cut, and the menu you back out to afterwards. When those come from five different libraries they sit in five different rooms, and no amount of mixing quite hides it. Everything here was built in one pass, by one person, to sit together.
How it was made
- No AI, ever. No generative audio, no AI-assisted synthesis. Every sound was designed by hand.
- One standardised master chain. Every file goes through the same deterministic normalise → QC → package pipeline: 44.1 kHz / 16-bit PCM, a −1.3 dBTP ceiling, a 20 Hz high-pass, and shaped TPDF dither.
- Measured, not eyeballed. Every file is checked for true peak (ITU-R BS.1770 / EBU R128 style true-peak metering), DC offset, crest factor and clipping before it ships. The impact family is intentionally driven hard — that is a creative choice on those files, and it is a documented one rather than an accident.
